Question:  How can we use ICT to reduce COVID19?


Covid19 is a global pandemic originated from china caused by the novel severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus. It is very deadly with a high transmission rate that require social distance in order to survive.

Knowing that Technology can’t prevent the onset of the pandemic, but it really help in many ways to prevent the spread, warm , by providing new and more efficient ways of accessing information, communicating , empower innovative ideas in order to find future cures.

The following are the ways Technology can be use to reduce covid-19

πŸ‘‰To support Social distancing by maintain organizations, institutions and businesses  work continuity Remotely

Now days through technology people can do everything online, Using ICT businesses can sell and advertise their products and services online, students are able to have virtual classes using Enterprise applications, Google virtual class, Zoom virtual conferencing, Cloud conferencing, WhatsApp group etc. universities library Can also be access online which allow people to do their coursework’s and exams at their respective home.

πŸ‘‰ Through Electronic Payment

People can pay their taxes, goods and services online using Mobile Money, Crypto-currency, debit, credit cards payments and other technology without having any physical contact with each other. During this Covid19, ICT is very useful especially because it allow people to stay at home and pay everything they need through technology for example people no longer need to walk in order to pay for electricity, water even food they can have everything they need online through website and application just by using their electronic devices like Phones, Tablets and computers. This allow them to stay Safe. 

 πŸ‘‰ Through Facial Recognition Technologies

People can be identified if they break the quarantine rules through technology using CCTV cameras and with the use of big data government and health services can be able to identify their Covid19 status.

πŸ‘‰ Through Temperature Monitoring Supported Technology

The body temperature measuring devices are using to fighting the spread of Coronavirus  at the public places, shops, supermarkets, train stations, checkpoints, government offices, hospitals, hotels, airports etc.

In order to deliver people’s online purchasing by maintaining social distance. Artificial Intelligence system like Drones and Robots can be use to deliver groceries, track people, carrying medicines to quarantine locations and transport affected people.

The governments through digital platforms like on Facebook, Twitter, website can provide official, trustworthy and timely information and advice about COVID-19. this because people need to be inform about how to protect themselves during this Covid19 period , and the safe way to provide those information is by using ICT through digital platforms.
