The course comprises
lectures and practical applications of the theories about managing ICT for
development, specifically focussed on developing countries.

On successful completion of this course, the
students are expected to,

LO1: Articulate
similarities and differences between the development theories
·
LO2: Explain theories and
frameworks of development that can be applied to ICT in developing countries
·
LO3: Examine contribution of
ICT in agriculture, health, education, business and government in developing
countries
·
LO4: Explain the
applications of mobile phones to enhance communication in health, education,
agriculture, business and government
·
LO5: Perform ICT project
evaluation in developing countries
·
LO6: Identify areas in
millennium development goals that can be achieved with the aid of ICT
applications.
·
LO7: Identify problems in
local communities in the areas of education, health, agriculture, business
and government and apply ICT to determine solution to the problem.

Intensive theoretical lecture
discussions with interludes of practical applications of theory in selected
businesses. Students do tests and a project work, which could be in teams.

– contribution of ICT in higher education with particular emphasis on
distance learning

3. E-health – ICT support to
health services such as antenatal care, postnatal care, administration of anti-retro viral medicine, smoking cessation where ICT plays a major role of
networking communities and health workers.
